Saturday Long-ish Run

Every Saturday 07:30

Meet: Main hospital front entrance

Distance: 5K and 8K options

Our biggest run of the week. Two groups set off together and loop back to the same finish, so nobody waits around alone. Coffee after for anyone who is not rushing to a shift.

Post-Night-Shift Easy Miles

Every Sunday 16:00

Meet: Park bandstand

Distance: 4K, conversational pace

A late-afternoon slot for anyone coming off a run of nights. Deliberately gentle: chat pace only, no watches needed.

Wednesday Walk/Run Beginners Session

Every Wednesday 18:30

Meet: Riverside path, car park end

Distance: 30 minutes, run/walk intervals

Built for first-timers. We use 3 minutes running, 1 minute walking, and a leader stays with the back of the group the whole way. If you can walk for 30 minutes, you can do this one.

Why a run club for healthcare workers?

Because our week does not look like everyone else's. Twelve-hour shifts, nights, missed lunches, and a body that has already walked ten kilometres around a ward before anyone suggests exercise.

Sessions that fit rotas

We run at times that work around early starts, late finishes and nights, and we post the schedule ahead so you can plan around your rota.

Nobody runs alone

Every session has a leader at the back of the group. If you are the slowest person there, you are exactly who we started this for.

People who get it

No explaining what a bad shift means. Some weeks the run is training, some weeks it is just half an hour of daylight and other humans.

Never run before?

Our beginner's guide is written for people on shifts: how to start with walk/run, what to wear, how to fuel around nights, and how to build up without breaking down.

Walk/run timer

Set your own intervals, for example 3 minutes running and 1 minute walking, and let the timer call every change with a beep. Works on your phone, no app needed.

Ready when you are

Tell us a bit about yourself and we will let you know when and where we are running next. You can add weekly emails at the end if you want them.
